Each member gets access to the full studio nearly 24/7 with an electronic key via an app. Every 2 months a new bag of clay is also distributed to members and they can choose between a brown/white stoneware or a porcelain clay body. This clay goes into individual clay cubbies and works in progress live on a full 19″x 28″ shelf with the members name. All glazing and firing is included but members are also allowed to bring in and use their own glazes (pending management approval).

Members are encouraged to take part in our long term classes and workshops.
Workshops include: Advanced Throwing & Glazing, Slip Casting & Hand Building with many more to come!
We offer mid-range firings for clay
Our studio fires in a mid range (^06 bisque & ^5 glaze). Both students and members use a ticket system for progress tracking (even from the comfort of your own home!)
Your own personal space for work in progress
Members have their own shelves so that when their pieces come out of our kiln they can be easily sorted and placed back on the members shelfs for quick pick up.
Use our tools or bring your own
While we do have dipping and brush glazes in the studio for members and students use, our members are more than welcome to bring in their own glazes. The studio will provide test tiles of each of our clays for you to test on as well as our staff’s immense knowledge of commercial glazes to draw upon.

Cafe Monet offers something that seemingly few studios in Austin do: flexibility. As a full time grad student, getting to the pottery studio during business hours is almost impossible. Being able to come and go as I please and work in an incredibly well-equipped space has been a game changer in maintaining my love for pottery.
